New York City, Washington Dc & Niagara Falls

Day 1: NEW YORK CITY Welcome to the “Big Apple!” Your Tour Director is available from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. this afternoon to answer any questions.

Settle in and perhaps begin exploring New York City, home to world-famous landmarks, diverse neighborhoods, and restaurants serving cuisine from around the globe.



Day 2: NEW YORK CITY Discover New York City on a guided sightseeing tour featuring some of its most recognizable landmarks, including Broadway, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and the 9/11 Memorial. This afternoon and evening are free to explore on your own. Visit a museum, browse the city’s famous shops, stroll through Central Park, or take in a Broadway show. With so many options, it’s hard to choose!



Day 3: NEW YORK CITY–PHILADELPHIA-WASHINGTON, DC AREA Depart Manhattan and travel across New Jersey to Philadelphia, the birthplace of American independence. The “City of Brotherly Love” is home to some of the nation’s most important historic landmarks, including Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, and the Liberty Bell. Your orientation tour also features modern city highlights, including the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art made famous in the movie Rocky.

Stop for lunch at Reading Terminal Market, one of America’s largest and oldest public markets, where you can try local favorites like Philly cheesesteaks or traditional Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine. Continue to Washington, DC, the nation’s capital, for a 2-night stay. This evening, consider joining an optional dinner and illumination tour that showcases the city’s most famous monuments and memorials after dark.



Day 4: WASHINGTON, DC AREA Discover the landmarks and monuments that define the nation’s capital on a half-day sightseeing tour with a Local Guide. Visit the Lincoln Memorial, see the Washington Monument and Ford’s Theatre, where President Lincoln was assassinated, and stop for photos at Capitol Hill and the White House.

The afternoon is free for independent exploration. Perhaps visit the National Museum of American History to see Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, the National Museum of Natural History to see fascinating dinosaur exhibits and the Hope Diamond, or the National Gallery of Art, home to the only original Leonardo da Vinci oil painting in the Western Hemisphere.

Day 5: WASHINGTON, DC AREA-LANCASTER, PA-HERSHEY, PA Travel this morning to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, for a visit to the Amish Farm & House. Learn about the faith, culture, and way of life of the Amish people for whom tradition forbids the use of electricity or telephones in the home.

Continue to Hershey, Pennsylvania for an overnight stay in the “Sweetest Place on Earth.” Founded by Milton Hershey in 1903, the town remains closely connected to its chocolate-making heritage, from the famous Hershey’s chocolate products to the streetlamps on Main Street shaped like Hershey Kisses!



Day 6: HERSHEY, PA-NIAGARA FALLS, ON Travel north through the Susquehanna River Valley, across the Appalachian Mountains, and through western New York State to the Canadian border. Cross into Ontario and continue to Niagara Falls for a two-night stay. (B)

Day 7: NIAGARA FALLS This morning, enjoy a sightseeing cruise for an up-close view of world-famous Niagara Falls and experience the power of one of North America’s most iconic natural wonders. For a different perspective, consider an optional helicopter flightseeing excursion or an optional visit to the Skylon Tower, where you can dine while enjoying panoramic views of the Falls and the surrounding region.

Your afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps visit the Butterfly Conservatory, explore Niagara Parks’ Botanical Gardens, or ride the Whirlpool Aero Car above the Niagara Gorge.

NOTE:
Operation of the Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise is subject to favorable weather and/or river conditions. Favorable conditions typically exist from May through October. When conditions are unfavorable, the cruise will be substituted with a visit to Journey Behind the Falls.




Day 8: NIAGARA FALLS-TORONTO Travel to Toronto, Canada’s largest city, located on the shores of Lake Ontario. Your orientation tour includes the harbourfront, CN Tower, Rogers Centre, and other city landmarks.

A complimentary transfer to Toronto Pearson International Airport will be provided for those with departing flights. Please schedule flights after 3:00 p.m. Guests with extra nights will be taken to our host hotel.
